Water Sports at the 2025 Canada Summer Games – St. John’s


From August 8–25, 2025, St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, will host the 2025 Canada Summer Games—showcasing top young athletes in a variety of water-based competitions.


Here’s everything you need to know about the standout aquatic events:


Canoe–Kayak Sprint (Aug 11–14)

Held at coastal venues nearby, canoe–kayak sprint returns with thrilling speed races. Young paddlers from each province and territory will compete in K-1, K-2, and C-1/C-2 events over distances like 200 m and 500 m. It’s a test of power, precision, and endurance.


Artistic Swimming Debut (Aug 17–25)

For the first time ever in a Canada Summer Games, artistic swimming joins the roster! Expect breathtaking routines, synchronized choreography, and emerging stars—some of whom may follow in the footsteps of Olympic alumni like Jacqueline Simoneau.


Sailing (Aug 9–16)

Hosted at the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club, the sailing competition will feature dinghy and keelboat races—testing athletes’ technical skills, strategy, and reading of coastal currents and winds.


Swimming (Aug 10–15)

Back in the pool for freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and relay events. Youth athletes vie for medals in both able-bodied and para-swimming categories. Expect to see fast starts, tight finishes, and future Commonwealth or Olympic talent.
